When planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, choosing the right resort can make a huge difference in your overall experience.

Disney’s Moderate Resorts are often the “sweet spot” for many travelers. They offer more amenities and immersive theming than Value Resorts while remaining more affordable than Deluxe Resorts.

The four Walt Disney World Moderate Resorts are:

  • Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

  • Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

  • Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

  • Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

Each resort offers unique theming, transportation options, and amenities that can appeal to different types of travelers. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

Theme: Caribbean island villages Best for: Guests who want Skyliner transportation

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is the largest Moderate Resort at Walt Disney World and is themed after tropical Caribbean islands surrounding a scenic lake.

One of its biggest advantages is access to the Disney Skyliner gondola system, which provides transportation to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Highlights

✔ Skyliner transportation to two parks ✔ Beautiful tropical setting with beaches and hammocks ✔ Large pirate-themed pool with waterslides ✔ Sebastian’s Bistro table-service restaurant

Potential Drawback

The resort is very spread out, so some rooms can be a long walk from dining or transportation.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Theme: Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest architecture Best for: Guests who want a more upscale resort feel

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort often feels closer to a Deluxe Resort experience at a Moderate price point.

The addition of Gran Destino Tower introduced upgraded rooms, rooftop dining, and a stunning lobby.

Highlights

✔ Beautiful lake and modern tower rooms ✔ Excellent dining options ✔ One of the best pools at Walt Disney World ✔ Relaxing lounges and rooftop restaurant

Potential Drawback

Because the resort hosts conventions, it can sometimes feel less “Disney themed” than other Moderate resorts.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

Theme: Louisiana bayou and southern river mansions Best for: Families who want peaceful surroundings

Port Orleans Riverside offers one of the most relaxing atmospheres at Walt Disney World. The resort is set along the Sassagoula River and features charming southern-style mansions and rustic bayou cottages.

Highlights

✔ Boat transportation to Disney Springs ✔ Beautiful walking paths and landscaping ✔ Some rooms accommodate 5 guests ✔ Quiet and romantic setting

Potential Drawback

The resort is fairly large, so some rooms are far from the main lobby and dining areas. Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

Theme: New Orleans French Quarter and Mardi Gras Best for: Guests who want a small, easy-to-navigate resort

Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest Moderate Resort at Walt Disney World, making it incredibly convenient to get around.

The resort’s colorful buildings and jazz-inspired atmosphere make it feel lively but relaxed.

Highlights

✔ Smallest and easiest Moderate Resort to navigate ✔ Famous Mickey-shaped beignets ✔ Boat transportation to Disney Springs ✔ Quiet and romantic atmosphere

Potential Drawback

Fewer dining options compared to larger resorts.
